Things I Learned This Weekend

Ranch
Sierra Ranch on July 25, 2013. Work to be done.

As with any ranch there are always things that need to be done. The work never seems to end, or you can choose what you want to see and just do the thing that needs to be done at that second.

As I have been kinda quickly placed into the status of single person after a 15 year marriage, I tend to look at all this as kinda fun.   I get to mold my ranch, and the businesses attached to it into what I want to do.  This weekend I started doing that by updating some of my websites with new pictures and information.

Here are a few things that I learned over the weekend:

Sharing a house is not fun under even the best of circumstances.  (Note: the ex is gone, but his business remains until he can relocate it.)  I can not find any tools, don’t have any gas for the lawn mowers, or even have one that wants to work.  Get down about it?  Heck no!  Find another of the million things to do.  And keep doing the thing!

Meeting a new guy for the first time you probably should not show him the rifles you think are the best prize from the divorce.  I worked in the gun business for four years and have a hard time remembering that some folks are creeped out about a gun that can hold 30 rounds.  Did it get me down that he kinda left abruptly?  Heck no!  Time to add something to my profile to let guys know I am armed, know how to use them properly, and am a good shot.  The right guy will think that is cool.

And lastly I learned it’s way past time to start doing things for myself.  I didn’t get to ride my Harley this weekend because the battery needs changing.  The ex had said just charge it, you need to ride more, ect.  Whatever!  It needs a new one.  I will go after work and buy it and then install the silly thing.  AND I will ride my freaking bike.  The freedom will be worth it!

And what does this have to do with business?  Well, I updated a few sites.  Still working on how to reword a few others and am slowly getting back to doing the thing.  What is that thing?  Depends on the day, but the most important thing is being happy!  And I am really good at that these days.
